Here is an great, very old specimen of Amazonite with some pretty amazing provenance.

When first found, it was known as Amazonstone as seen on the early labels. Today, although known as Amazonite, the name Amazonstone is still used, but not as often.

The specimen has not been cleaned much, and there is still dirt on it from back when it was first unearthed. The Amazonite is surprisingly somewhat translucent. There is also some twinning of the crystals present. There also appears to be Cleavelandite present, but it was never noted on the labels. The specimen is intact and has not had any repairs done to it.

It's original labels date back as far as 1885 - 1889, which is a L.W. Stilwell Label that is attached to the back of the specimen.

This first label is from Deadwood, D.T. (Dakota Territory), back before South Dakota became a State. You will find a Bio of Mr. L.W. Stilwell in the photos.

The second label is a Ward's Natural Sciences label, a third is from The Haucks Collection, the forth is from The Breck Kent Collection, and then the last is from Natural Selection Crystals.

I should not say last as one of my labels will be added to this specimen.

If you like specimens with a lot of history, they don't get much better than this!
