Here is an amazing specimen of Double Terminated, Petroleum Included (Golden Enhydro) Quartz with Calcite on matrix. This specimen comes from Baluchistan Pakistan.
These petroleum included double terminated quartz crystals have just recently been discovered in the last few years. The double terminated quartz crystals are commonly called "Diamond" quartz due to their clarity and shape.
These petroleum included crystals are commonly found individually, but rarely found, are these large matrix plates with the crystals still attached.
This large cabinet specimen measures approx. 22.1 cm (9 1/2 inches) long x 13.9 cm tall x 4.7 cm thick. It weighs approx. 1130 grams. The largest crystal measures approx. 2.3 cm long.
It is a very impressive plate of the water clear, double terminated quartz crystals spread among calcite. About 95% of the quartz crystals on the plate have petroleum inclusions and everyone of them have methane bubbles within. The bubbles all more depending on how the piece is turned. These petroleum inclusions fluoresce under long and shortwave ultraviolet as seen in the photos.
I cannot stress just how rare it is to find these rare petroleum crystals still attached to their matrix.
