Tourmaline

Out of an older collection, comes the beautiful tourmaline specimen.
The only locale information I have on it, is that it comes from Brazil.
Large beautiful crystal, but appears to be an inter-grown / twinned cluster of crystals.
It has watermelon coloring, with stepped terminations.
The amount of internal red color varies throughout, but is deeper near the bottom.
The bottom termination appears to be healed, as is part of the top termination.
What may look like damage to the top termination is actually areas of growth interrupted by matrix,
tiny teminated needles of tourmaline can be seen in this area.
It has some micro quartz crystallization in the seams on one side of the specimen.
There is one small ding present on the side of the top healed termination.
Priced at less that $25 per gram, a bargin!
