Here is a beautiful specimen of intensely colored botryoidal hemimorphite on a limonitic matrix.
The color is a beautiful deep electric blue which is very translucent and has a soft velvet like look.
The hemimorphite is well presented on one side of this specimen. It has some veins of the mineral running through the matrix.
It comes with an old weathered label from "Colorado Geological Industries of Denver, CO which dates to between 1968 and 1973.
The specimen is most likely much older than this.
The old label only states Mt. Malfidano, Sardinia, but this specimen most likely comes from the
Sa Duchessa Mine, Oridda Valley, Domusnovas, South Sardinia Province, Sardinia, Italy.
